Antigo Construction breaking for removal 13†of concrete made up of a 5†thick layer bonded over an 8″ thick, continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) on I-280 near Davenport, IA using an 8600 Badger Breaker®. The 8600 broke the concrete free from the rebar by using a 6†to 8†strike spacing. The prime contractor raked through the broken concrete with a ripper tooth to bring the rebar to the surface. A hydraulic shear was then used to cut the rebar to manageable lengths for recycling. The broken concrete was then loaded and hauled to a crusher for recycling.
